Product Description
Significance: Diwali is the most famous of all the Hindu Festivals. It falls on the (no moon day) of the Hindu month of Kartik –October/November. On Diwali day, Hindus light rows of lamps around their houses and draw elaborate sand paintings called rangolis outside their homes. Diwali or Deepawali is a Festival of Lights that is celebrated with much joy and enthusiasm by Hindus all over the world. It is a time for cleaning the houses, getting together with neighbors, family, and friends. Diwali is a time to share sweets with each other and remember that the light of God always triumphs over darkness. Diwali also carries a deep philosophical meaning. Light (Prakash) symbolizes God, goodness, and knowledge – whereas darkness (tam) symbolizes evil, ignorance, and Maya.
Rituals of the Day: Diwali is celebrated over 5 days and each day has its own Ritual.
Day 1 Dhanteras – “Dhan” means wealth and on this day it is auspicious to buy Gold and silver, as per the belief, what you buy on this day multiplies much fold.
Day 2 Choti Diwali – “Choti” ( Small) Diwali is nothing but a pre-celebration for the Big Laxmi Puja Day.
Day 3 Laxmi Pujan – This is the main Day ( or night) of the Diwali Festival. On this day, a puja Goddess of Wealth, Devi Laxmi is done at all Hindu households. Each and every Hindu house will be decorated with Lights and Diyas and also Rangolis are made outside the house.
Day 4 Naya Saal – Means New Year. Flower torans are put up on the Main house doors on this day to welcome the New auspicious Year.
Day 5 Bhai Dooj – This day is dedicated to Brother and Sisters. The sister puts Tilak on the brother’s forehead and does a small aarti for each other’s well-being and gifts are exchanged.
